Congrats to the coaches selection for Athlete of the Month, Elizabeth Hofer. Elizabeth was part of the April ’16 Fundamentals class and hasn’t looked back. Even with the challenges of living in Marshfield, job changes, and having to squeeze in early morning classes, she has made her fitness a priority. She attended bring a friend day and was dismayed at her lack of strength. She wanted to get stronger and she has definitely made huge strides. Elizabeth, thank you for being such a ray of sunshine at the box and working hard!
Coach Alex says “Elizabeth has that million dollar smile and brings a great personality to CFSP. It has been such a privilege to watch her turn into the athlete she is today. We talk about the #gainz we see everyday in Crossfit and Elizabeth is our living proof of all the gainz. Proud and excited for this gal. She deserves it!”
Coach Sam says “Elizabeth most definitely has her hustle on! She is a determined athlete hiding behind a sweet smile. She’s the CrossFit Stevens Point dark horse right now. I remember her first bring a friend day, she wished she was stronger and wanted to keep up and now she is cranking out RX workouts. I’m so proud of her.”
Coach Staci says “Where did this chick come from? From not being able to do 10 sit ups to RXing workouts on the regular, Elizabeth’s transformation has been quiet but steady and impressive. We are very lucky to have this smiley lady in the gym and part of CFSP.”

Name: Elizabeth Hofer

Career: Home Visitor for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin
Family (married, children, pets, etc.): Husky Puppy
Where do you live in the area? Marshfield WI
What did you do for fitness before CrossFit? Basically just running.
Other sports you love and participate in outside of CrossFit: I enjoy watching sports but I don’t really participate in any!
Tell us a little about your early CrossFit experiences? What made you try CrossFit? When did you start? What were your first thoughts during your first workout (or fundamentals)? Did you start at CFSP or another box?
I wanted to try crossfit just to get involved in something new. I met coach Sam at Father Fats and she explained it to me more and brought me with her to bring a friend day. I was hooked! The first workout made me realize how many things I had never tried and how out of shape I was. It also made me realize how fun and motivating it is to workout with other people.
What keeps you coming back to CrossFit and CFSP? Everything! The friends I have made, the coaches, and the motivating environment that it provides. If I didn’t do crossfit, I probably wouldn’t workout anymore because I would be so bored!
What has been the biggest surprise or most unexpected benefit of CrossFit for you? I didn’t come in expecting to make such good friends or to be so involved in activities with people who all have similar interests. I’m also surprised with how much strength I have gained in a little over a year!
Your proudest CrossFit moment? I don’t have one specific moment but lately I have enjoyed being able to go almost everyday and push myself in new ways. I finally feel like I can see more progress and i am proud of myself for how far I have come!
What has been your biggest CrossFit challenge to overcome? A combination of taking breaks and scaling when I’m injured without becoming frustrated and wanting to quit, and anything shoulder to overhead. When I started I could only lift the bar and even that was tough for me!
Most humbling CrossFit moment? So many moments. I think seeing athletes continue to come everyday and scale when they are injured has been most humbling for me overall because that is something I would not have done before I started crossfit.
Favorite movement and WOD (or type of WOD): SQUATS! I enjoy amraps and longer metcons most because they are a challenge!
Most challenging movement and WOD (or type of WOD): they have recently improved but probably wallballs or double unders. I hate practicing both!
Your favorite WOD time? Every time! If I go in the morning I am in a great mood all day. If I go at night, it’s a great way to leave work behind and enjoy the evening. Lately, if I miss the 6am crew I am pretty disappointed.
What do you say to your family and friends when they express an interest in or criticize crossfit?
I explain how much it has changed my life and how it can be accommodating for almost anyone. Many people ask if it is dangerous and I explain that like other sports or physical activities, it can be dangerous if you don’t learn the movements correctly and listen to your body.
What one thing about you would be the biggest surprise to your fellow CFSP athletes? Before I started crossfit I had never lifted a barbell or done a squat. I just figure skated in highschool!
Favorite foods? Sushi, Pizza, Cheesecake, Raspberries, and Buffalo anything.
Favorite movies/TV shows (or types of movies and TV shows): Comedy or Suspense. I spend more time at work wishing I could watch a movie than actually watching movies.
Non-sports and fitness hobbies (i.e. reading, drinking wine, cooking, travel, playing video games): I spend a lot of time meal prepping, however I hate cooking! I like drinking wine and going on hikes with my puppy!
How would you describe your personality/CrossFit personality? Pretty quiet until I get to know people. And always late for 6am class even though I try so hard to be early!
